Who We Are

Alabama AHEAD is a state-wide organization that seeks to foster awareness of postsecondary disability issues and to promote excellence in the provision of services for individuals with disabilities.

Membership Benefits

Annual Conferences Alabama AHEAD members and other professionals have the opportunity to attend an annual conference. This annual conference allows participants to meet other professionals, attend workshops, and gain information about issues and concerns affecting disability service providers, administrators, and individuals with disabilities in postsecondary settings. The conference moves annually to a different part of the state and is usually held in October.


The ALABAMA AHEAD newsletter is published to provide current information about the field of disability support services and applicable laws. The newsletter and other publications of Alabama AHEAD are designed to keep members informed about Alabama AHEAD activities, current issues, resources, model programs, and best practices.

Information/Technical Assistance

Officers, board members, and committee chairs of Alabama AHEAD provide excellent resources for information and assistance. We will be happy to aide you in arranging for speakers or other assistance. A "Members Only" forum is also available to submit questions and to offer help to other members.

Professional Development

Alabama AHEAD seeks a wide range of training opportunities for professionals and consumers. Training can be arranged as one-day, drive-in workshops in various areas of the state or on individual campuses.


Conferences and other meetings provide an excellent opportunity for networking and professional interaction. An annual membership directory enables members to contact each other by mail, e-mail, telephone, or fax.
